About the Role

Our client, a leading developer in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to join their expanding remote team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute from anywhere within South Africa, focusing on the successful execution of large-scale renewable energy projects. You will be responsible for managing the entire project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and development through to construction and commissioning. This role requires a robust understanding of project management principles, coupled with expertise in the renewable energy industry. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and hydro, from initiation to close-out.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, defining scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineers, environmental specialists, contractors, and legal counsel.
• Oversee the procurement process, including contract negotiation with suppliers and vendors.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Manage stakeholder engagement and communication with government agencies, investors, and local communities.
• Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators, and provide regular, accurate reports to senior management.
• Ensure adherence to project quality standards and operational excellence.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with a significant focus on renewable energy projects (solar, wind, etc.).
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex, large-scale energy infrastructure projects from conception to completion.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
• Expertise in project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2) and proficiency with relevant software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Environmental Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience working remotely and managing distributed teams is essential.
• Must be based in South Africa and able to work remotely, potentially collaborating from areas like Upington.
