Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking a senior Reinforcing Steel Estimator to lead takeoffs, pricing, and detailing for large projects. Remote work is offered with periodic travel to project sites and meetings.

The ideal candidate has substantial reinforced-steel experience, strong reading of drawings, and proficiency with AutoCAD, RebarCAD, Tekla or SDS/2. A formal degree is not required with relevant experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years reinforcing-steel industry experience with strong estimation background.
• Significant experience estimating reinforcing steel for large projects.
• Experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings.
• Experience with large concrete, industrial or infrastructure projects.
• Strong ability to read structural drawings and specs and identify risks.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroStation, RebarCAD, Tekla, SDS/2 or similar.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Develop estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor, equipment and freight.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions based on project conditions.
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability concerns.
• Identify project risks and cost exposures before bid submission.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates.
• Assist management with bid strategy and selling price.
• Coordinate pricing with material, fabrication, freight and subs.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions.
• Lead department development and standardization efforts.
