Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking an experienced Reinforcing-Steel Estimator/Detailer to join our remote team. The role requires reviewing structural drawings, performing complete reinforcing-steel takeoffs, and producing labor and material cost estimates for diverse projects.

The ideal candidate will have substantial industry experience, strong math skills, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field staff.

Qualifications

• 7+ years reinforcing-steel industry experience.
• Significant experience estimating reinforcing steel.
• Experience detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of ACI and CRSI requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings and specs.
• Develop accurate estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor, equipment, freight and other costs.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions based on project conditions.
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, congestion, splice requirements and other reinforcing needs.
• Review plans for scope gaps, discrepancies and constructability concerns.
• Identify project risks and potential cost exposures before bid submission.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates.
• Assist management in establishing final bid strategy and selling price.
• Solicit and evaluate material, fabrication, freight and subcontractor pricing.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions.
• Review shop/placing drawings for accuracy and constructability.
• Coordinate revisions and changes throughout the project.
• Work with PMs and field personnel to resolve issues.
