Job summary

Everpure (formerly Pure Storage) is hiring a Senior Pre-Sales Systems Engineer to support our Higher Education business, with a focus on R1 research universities in the Mid-Atlantic. You will be the technical lead on these accounts, translating complex requirements into compelling solutions and working with account managers to close technical wins.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience across technology, solution design, and customer-facing communication.
• Pre-sales or customer-facing technical experience.
• Broad technical depth across two or more areas (cloud, HPC, AI/ML infra, data management, core infra, analytics, or business applications).
• Track record of selling on value and linking technology to business outcomes.
• Ability to hold credible conversations with engineers, architects, executives, finance teams, and procurement.
• Comfort with ambiguity and the judgment to challenge assumptions.
• Curiosity, empathy, openness to learning, and strong communication skills.
• BS in CS, EE, or another technical degree, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of each institution's drivers and decision-makers.
• Connect Everpure solutions to measurable research and institutional outcomes.
• Move between audiences, adapting conversations for researchers, CIOs, finance, and procurement.
• Build the business case: total cost of ownership, power, cooling, data center footprint, staff time.
• Support research workloads end to end from instruments to HPC/AI pipelines and archival storage.
• Lead evaluations, benchmarks, proofs of concept, and system configurations.
• Capture requirements and translate them into scalable solutions.
• Author responses to RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs with detail and clarity.
• Stay current on market and research computing trends and reflect them in strategy.
• Lead by example with Pure Values: Persistence, Creativity, Teamwork, Ownership, Customer-first.
