Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focused on defect resolution across multiple states.
• Experience drafting penalty abatement requests and formal agency response letters with supporting documentation.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal (Form 941-X) and State payroll tax returns across all states including PA, OH, etc.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law (FICA, FUTA, FITW) and filing schedules.
• Multi-state payroll tax expertise and local tax compliance across jurisdictions.
• Lead/senior specialist or SME experience with coaching junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices in the team’s queue, owning the full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (Form 941-X and state equivalents) across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors across multiple pay periods and jurisdictions; drive corrections.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving Corrections, Amendments, and Notice resolution requests with accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers, and propose resolutions with root-cause analysis.
• Coach Senior Payroll Tax Processors and share knowledge through sessions and on-demand support.
• Contribute to team huddles, QA sessions, and process improvements; author SOPs and KB articles.
• Identify trends and compliance issues; communicate findings and drive implementation with stakeholders.
