The role acts as a technical lead, guiding junior staff while owning the most complex cases in the queue and driving process improvements for the team. The position fixes payroll tax problems across multiple states, prepares amended returns, ensures accurate documentation, and collaborates with Corrections, Amendments, Pay &

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notices; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Hands-on experience preparing amended Federal (Form 941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex state and federal payroll tax notices in the queue, owning full case lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states end-to-end.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods or jurisdictions; drive complete correction workflow to resolution.
• Maintain high productivity case resolution with accuracy in corrections, amendments, and notices.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers; propose resolutions.
• Serve as the primary real-time resource for Senior Payroll Tax Processors and coach teams.
