Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead complex payroll tax issue resolutions across Notices, Corrections, and Amendments. This hourly, remote role focuses on fixing payroll tax problems, preparing amended returns, and transferring knowledge through coaching.

The Senior SME will own the most complex cases and guide junior staff while improving processes. The role demands multi-state expertise (PA, OH and others), strong written communication, and Excel proficiency.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in payroll tax with tax defect resolution focus across multiple states.
• Expert in State and Federal payroll tax notices; draft penalty abatement requests with documentation.
• Hands-on experience preparing/amending Federal (941-X) and State payroll tax returns.
• Deep knowledge of FICA, FUTA, FITW and payroll tax deposits.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex State and Federal payroll tax notices and multi-quarter/state cases.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across many states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple pay periods/jurisdictions.
• Maintain high productivity resolving corrections/notice requests with accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases, blockers, and drive resolutions.
• Coach Senior staff and share resolution processes via coaching sessions.
• Contribute to team QA, SOPs, and KB improvements.
• Identify tax compliance trends and communicate findings to stakeholders.
