Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to act as a senior payroll tax subject matter expert. The role focuses on resolving complex notices, corrections, and amendments, serving as a technical lead and mentor for the team, and improving processes to better serve customers.

The position emphasizes lead responsibility for multi-state tax issues, federal tax law expertise, and the ability to coach junior staff while delivering high-quality tax defect resolution across the organization.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with a focus on tax defect resolution across notices, amendments, and corrections.
• Proven ability to independently draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal (941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across multiple states.
• Strong knowledge of Federal payroll tax law (FICA, FUTA, FITW) and multi-state tax compliance.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex State and Federal payroll tax notices and amendments from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended returns (941-X, state equivalents) across 10+ states end-to-end.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors across quarters and jurisdictions and drive full correction workflow.
• Maintain high productivity, handling Corrections, Amendments, and Notices with accuracy.
