Intuit is seeking a Staff Payroll Tax Processor to act as a senior SME, resolving complex payroll tax notices, amendments, and corrections across multiple states. The role emphasizes building team capability through coaching and creating scalable processes for tax defect resolution.

The position is a virtual, hourly role with 20–40 hours weekly, offering overtime eligibility and a path toward CPP/EA credentials.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience focusing on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and corrections across states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notice types; ability to draft penalty abatements and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal (941-X, W-2c) and State payroll tax returns across multiple jurisdictions including PA, OH, etc.
• Deep knowledge of FICA, FUTA, FITW, tax deposit schedules, penalties and interest structures.
• Lead or SME experience; ability to coach junior staff through complex resolutions.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal payroll tax notices in the queue, owning full lifecycle.
• Prepare and file amended returns across 10+ states end-to-end with reconciliations.
• Diagnose payroll tax errors spanning multiple periods; trace to payroll runs and drive corrections.
• Maintain high productivity in resolving Correction, Amendment, and Notice requests with accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers; drive root-cause analysis and resolutions.
• Serve as a real-time resource for Senior Processors; coach and transfer knowledge.
• Conduct structured coaching sessions quarterly; adjust frequency for learning gaps.
• Contribute to team huddles, QA sessions, and process meetings; share best practices.
