Job summary

Intuit is seeking a Senior Staff Payroll Tax Processor to lead complex state and federal payroll tax issues. The role focuses on defect resolution, amended return preparation, and knowledge transfer to the team, with emphasis on mentoring and process improvement.

The position offers flexibility with virtual work and expects strong collaboration across Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams to deliver accurate resolutions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of State and Federal payroll tax notices; able to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal (941-X) and State payroll tax returns.
• Deep knowledge of FICA, FUTA, FITW, and related penalties/interest.
• Multi-state tax expertise with local compliance experience.
• Leadership experience coaching junior staff.
• Strong Excel skills for reconciliation and audit trails.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex payroll tax notices across multiple states in the team’s queue.
• Prepare and file amended returns (Federal and State) end-to-end.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors spanning multiple periods and jurisdictions.
• Maintain high productivity resolving Corrections, Amendments, and Notice requests with accuracy.
• Monitor WIP, identify aging cases and blockers; propose resolutions.
• Act as real-time resource for Senior Processors and mentor teammates.
• Conduct coaching sessions and contribute to team QA and process improvements.
• Author and review SOPs and KB articles; identify recurring errors for corrective action.
• Collaborate with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams.
