Intuit seeks a Senior Payroll Tax SME to lead end-to-end resolution of complex notices, corrections, and amendments. You will own the most challenging cases, mentor junior staff, and drive process improvements across the payroll tax operations team.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, cross-team collaboration, and the ongoing enhancement of SOPs and knowledge bases to deliver accurate tax resolutions for customers.

Competenze

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution for notices, amended returns, and corrections across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notices; ability to draft penalty abatements and agency responses.
• Experience preparing amended Federal (941-X, W-2c) and State returns across all states including PA, OH, etc.
• Deep knowledge of federal payroll tax law: FICA, FUTA, FITW, deposits, penalties and interest.
• Multi-state payroll tax expertise: reciprocity, resident/nonresident taxation, local tax compliance across jurisdictions.
• Experience as lead/SME; coaching junior staff on complex resolutions.
• Advanced Excel for reconciliation and audit trails.
• Strong written communication for SOPs and KBs.

• Resolve the most complex State and Federal notices, owning full lifecycle from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns (941-X, W-2c) across 10+ states end-to-end.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors across multiple pay periods and jurisdictions; drive correction workflow.
• Maintain high productivity resolving Correction, Amendment, and Notice requests with high accuracy.
• Monitor WIP; identify aging cases and blockers; propose resolutions to management.
• Coach Senior Processors in real-time and through structured quarterly coaching.
• Contribute to team huddles, QA sessions, and process improvements.
• Author and review SOPs and KB articles; highlight recurring error patterns for fixes.
• Identify trends in compliance issues and communicate responses to stakeholders.
