Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Principal Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to design and create construction drawings for high-voltage transmission projects. You will serve as SME, provide technical guidance, and act as Engineer of Record when required.

This role involves designing lines from 69kV to 500kV, performing structural analyses, and mentoring junior engineers. Applicants should have a BS in Engineering (ABET-accredited), 15+ years in overhead transmission design, and a PE license.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil or related) from an ABET-accredited school.
• 15+ years of experience in overhead transmission line design.
• PE license required.
• Proficient with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD or similar.
• Extensive knowledge of industry codes and standards (NESC, ASCE, ACI, RUS, IEC, IEEE).
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% and possess a valid drivers license.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME in transmission line design and construction practices.
• Provide technical guidance and QA reviews for deliverables and drawings.
• Act as Engineer of Record when required and provide final approval.
• Design overhead transmission lines from 69kV to 500kV.
• Perform structural and foundation design analyses.
• Prepare and review technical specs and drawings.
• Mentor and train lower-level engineers and team members.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
