Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Engineer, Overhead Transmission Line Design to plan, direct, and coordinate civil/structural analyses for high‑voltage transmission lines through project completion. This role will require leadership across multidisciplinary teams and a strong emphasis on safety and standards.

The ideal candidate has 5–10+ years of overhead transmission line design experience, a BS in Civil/Structural/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited school, and a PE license.

Qualifications

• Broad understanding of engineering principles and practices applied to overhead transmission line design.
• 5–10+ years of overhead transmission line design experience and knowledge of civil engineering principles.
• ABET-accredited BS in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Ability to analyze problems and develop effective solutions at strategic and functional levels.
• Strong self-management and project leadership with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Complete calculations, drawings, contracts, specifications, and design standards for transmission lines.
• Perform civil/structural analyses and designs for layouts through 500kV.
• Prepare complex engineering deliverables and coordinate design reviews.
• Develop drawing packages for bidding, construction, and submittals.
• Coordinate construction activities with technical support and timely submittals.
• Communicate project scopes, budgets, and schedules; assist in budget preparation.
• Develop training modules as directed by the Principal Engineer.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to team members.
• Support business development or pursuit activities.
