Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Principal Overhead Transmission Line Engineer to lead design of high-voltage overhead transmission projects (69kV–500kV). You will serve as SME, provide technical guidance, and act as Engineer of Record when required.

You will mentor engineers, review drawings and specs, perform analyses, coordinate with clients and project managers, and ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, and other standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (ABET-accredited) required.
• 15+ years of experience in overhead transmission line design.
• PE license required.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MFAD or similar.
• Extensive knowledge of NESC, ASCE, ACI, RUS, IEC, and IEEE.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and communicate technical details clearly.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% and possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME in transmission line design and construction practices.
• Provide technical guidance and QA reviews for deliverables, drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.
• Act as Engineer of Record when required and provide final technical approval.
• Design overhead transmission lines in the 69kV–500kV range.
• Perform structural analysis, foundation design, and simulations for transmission lines.
• Prepare and review technical specifications and drawings; mentor junior engineers.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and project managers to ensure project success.
• Conduct field work to support design, construction, and commissioning activities.
