Job summary

Albany Medical Center in Health Information Management seeks a Remote Senior Professional Coder to lead the service line for professional coding, charging and denials follow-up. This role requires advanced CPT/ICD-10 expertise and collaboration across coding staff and providers.

You will audit codes for compliance with CMS/state rules, provide education and training, support LEAN process improvements, and serve as the HCC/Risk adjustment coding expert.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
• Two years or more prior experience in professional fee coding - required
• Knowledge of multiple coding specialties - preferred
• Working knowledge and experience with provider professional fee coding and charge processing. Complex coding skill set required. Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (High proficiency)
• CPC, CCA, CCS, COC, RHIT, or RHIA - required

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and validate CPT and ICD-10 codes and charges to assure compliance with federal and state regulations and insurer guidelines.
• Assist Supervisor in daily operations of coding teams and ensure productivity/quality.
• Assume supervisory tasks in absence of Supervisor.
• Perform accurate coding of CPT and ICD-10 codes.
• Define and submit coding/edit rules to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Participate in testing and workflow analysis for systems.
• Assist in implementing, testing, and maintaining third-party vendor applications.
• Orient and train staff; provide feedback and evaluate performance.
• Contribute to LEAN initiatives and department goals.
• Recruitment support and staffing coordination.
• Perform System Manager tasks and generate daily reports.
