Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a Professional Coder for a remote role in Health Information Management. The coder will review, analyze, and validate CPT and ICD-10 codes and charges to ensure compliance with federal and state rules and payer guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
• 1-3 years experience in provider professional fee coding preferred.
• Working knowledge of provider professional fee coding and charge processing; Excel/Word proficiency.
• CPC, CCA, CCS, COC, RHIT, RHIA or other AHIMA/AAPC credential; in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and validate CPT and ICD-10 codes and charges to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and payer guidelines.
• Code CPT and ICD-10 DX codes accurately and compliantly.
• Understand NCCI edits and RVUs as appropriate for the role.
• Meet productivity and quality standards.
• Review denials, research and respond timely.
• Perform audits as directed by management.
• Assist with testing for coding workflows as needed.
• Attend staff and department meetings and other assigned meetings.
• Pursue professional development via webinars, workshops, and conferences.
• Collaborate with diverse disciplines and varying levels of expertise.
• Stay informed on insurance products and regulatory mandates.
• Interact with providers to improve documentation and coding specificity.
• All other duties as assigned.
