Job summary
First National Bank of Omaha seeks a Senior Mainframe Engineer to lead, modernize z/OS environments, and drive efficiency across customer mainframe estates. You will guide upgrades, standardize mass maintenance, and oversee IBM/ISV software deployments while ensuring enterprise compliance and scalable delivery.
The role requires deep z/OS expertise, experience with VTAM/TCP/IP, and a strategic mindset to advance automation and reliability.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer.
- Proven expertise in z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of z/OS components (JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, OMVS/USS, SMF/RMF, ASM, GRS, SDSF, TSO, RACF).
Responsibilities
- Serve as technical leader, guiding best practices and mentoring on z/OS upgrade optimization.
- Design standardized approaches for z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance.
- Oversee installation and maintenance of IBM and ISV software per enterprise standards.
- Drive optimization of system performance and reduction of operational complexity.
- Develop technical documentation and templates for OS rollouts.
- Participate in after-hours and weekend support as required.
