First National Bank of Omaha is seeking a Senior Mainframe Engineer to lead and modernize z/OS environments within our managed services team. The role focuses on developing standards, optimizing processes, and ensuring reliable delivery of mainframe services across customer environments.

The ideal candidate brings deep mainframe expertise, leadership capabilities, and a strategic vision to drive efficiency, scalability, and modernization initiatives while operating in a remote-capable setting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance.
• Deep knowledge of JES2, HCD/IODF, SMP/E, WLM, RACF and related z/OS components.
• 10+ years as a Mainframe Senior Systems Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical teams and establish upgrade best practices.
• Design standardized approaches for z/OS upgrades and mass maintenance.
• Optimize system performance and reduce operational complexity.
• Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of IBM and ISV software products.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to plan OS upgrades with minimal business impact.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and rollout templates.
• Drive adoption of new technologies (Sysplex, automation) to support objectives.
• Act as SME for mainframe projects and provide governance.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting for escalated incidents and after-hours support.
