Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer to design, enhance, and support reliable healthcare claims applications. You will work with business analysts, QA, project managers, and offshore teams to deliver robust mainframe solutions.

Responsibilities include designing, testing, debugging, and maintaining systems using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS and MQ, ensuring compliant processing workflows. This role is remote in the United States with strong collaboration across delivery teams.

Qualifications

8+ years of hands-on mainframe development experience.
Proficient with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS and MQ.
Experience with healthcare claims adjudication workflows.
Knowledge of code migration, release management and deployments.
Strong analytical and collaboration skills in Agile, onsite and offshore delivery.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain healthcare claims applications.
Translate requirements into scalable, mainframe solutions for claims adjudication workflows.
Troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, review code and implement fixes.
Support integration testing, UAT, deployment, and post-implementation validation.
Provide technical leadership to offshore teams and coordinate delivery.
