Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Sr. Mainframe Developer with 7+ years of expertise in mainframe technologies and Healthcare Claims processing to design, develop, and support enterprise Claims applications.

You will design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe systems using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ, and collaborate with cross‑functional and offshore teams to deliver compliant solutions. The role demands technical leadership, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate

Qualifications

Strong experience with mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.
Experience with Healthcare Claims Adjudication processes and related business workflows.
Strong understanding of code migration and release management processes.
Experience with package creation and code promotion across Development, Test, QA, and Production environments.
Knowledge of post-deployment validation and backout procedures.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, cross‑functional teams, and offshore development teams.
Experience working in Agile development environments.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement technical solutions for Claims applications by transforming business requirements into scalable, efficient, and compliant mainframe systems.
Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain mainframe Claims applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.
Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, project managers, and support teams to ensure successful project execution.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to offshore team members and coordinate onsite‑offshore activities.
Serve as a key point of contact for technical issue resolution.
Troubleshoot production issues and optimize application performance.
Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with established coding standards and best practices.
Support SIT, UAT, production deployments, and post‑implementation activities.
