Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer to design, enhance, and support healthcare claims applications in a remote US role. You will collaborate with analysts, QA, project managers, and offshore engineers to deliver reliable mainframe solutions for claims processing.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of mainframe development experience with COBOL/JCL/DB2/VSAM/CICS/MQ, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead distributed teams in an Agile delivery environment.

Qualifications

8+ years of hands-on mainframe development experience.
Extensive experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS and MQ.
Knowledge of healthcare claims adjudication processes.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain healthcare claims applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ.
Translate business requirements into scalable mainframe solutions for claims adjudication workflows.
Troubleshoot production issues, optimize performance, and conduct code reviews.
Support testing, code migration, deployment, and post-implementation validation.
Provide technical leadership to offshore teams and coordinate onsite/offshore delivery.
