Cognizant is hiring a Senior Mainframe Developer to design, enhance, and support healthcare claims applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and MQ. You will lead technical efforts within the Application Development and Maintenance team, collaborating with analysts, QA, PMs, support staff, and offshore/onsite engineers.

This remote role in the United States offers flexibility with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and compliant workflows.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on mainframe development experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS and MQ.
• Experience in healthcare claims adjudication processes and related workflows.
• Knowledge of code migration, release management, environment promotion and deployment backout.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain mainframe healthcare claims applications.
• Translate requirements into scalable mainframe solutions and optimize performance.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform code reviews, and implement fixes.
• Support testing, migration, production deployments, and post-implementation validation.
• Provide technical leadership to offshore team members and coordinate delivery.
