Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H) maintained annually.
• Minimum 3+ years of acute care inpatient medical coding experience in hospital/facility settings.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in Level 2 or higher trauma centers with mastery of complex procedures and related care.
• Minimum 2+ years of ICD-10-CM/PCS and DRG coding experience.

Responsabilités

• Identify appropriate ICD-10-CM/PCS code assignments for inpatient services and their impact on DRG.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review as needed.
• Adhere to AHIMA and AAPC ethical coding standards.
• Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity as set by Optum360.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Stay current with coding knowledge as disseminated by QM Manager, Coding Ops Managers, and Coding/Quality Director.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
• Review and maintain records of charts coded or missing.
