Job summary

Community Hospital is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder for a fully remote, full-time position. You will review acute inpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes, validate MS-DRG outcomes, and ensure documentation supports all diagnoses and procedures. Collaboration with clinical staff and ongoing education are expected.

The role emphasizes data integrity, HIPAA compliance, and accurate reimbursement practices in a quality-driven environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of acute inpatient coding experience.
• Active AHIMA or AAPC credential.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS and MS-DRG.
• Ability to interpret clinical documentation and convert to codes.

Responsibilities

• Review acute inpatient records and assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.
• Validate MS-DRG assignments and ensure documentation supports diagnoses and procedures.
• Abstract relevant data and identify documentation gaps for provider queries.
• Maintain HIPAA confidentiality and support compliant billing practices.
• Collaborate with healthcare staff and participate in meetings and education.
