Job summary

Omega Healthcare Management Services is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to review records and assign accurate diagnoses and procedures for reimbursement and quality reporting. The role supports multiple client environments from a remote home office, adhering to AHIMA/AMA coding standards and HIPAA requirements.

The ideal candidate has a coding certificate and 2–4 years of inpatient/profee experience, with proficiency in EPIC or a similar system.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program and a minimum of two to four years of current production coding experience in both acute care and profee.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and code diagnoses and procedures from inpatient, outpatient, ED, pro fee and clinical records.
• Assign principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures with correct sequencing.
• Apply coding guidelines and DRG/APC reimbursement rules to codes.
• Abstract data into multiple software programs and encoder systems.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, AHIMA/AMA/AHA guidelines and state/federal regulations.
