Job summary

You will maintain up-to-date coding knowledge, pursue AHIMA/AAPC credentials, and contribute to high-quality, productive coding while following client guidelines. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. is supported.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (or higher) required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC to be maintained annually.
• 3+ years inpatient DRG coding in an acute care facility.
• 3+ years of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and DRG coding using an encoder.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate assignment of ICD-10 CM, ICD-10-PCS, DRG, and abstraction for facility services according to guidelines.
• Expert knowledge in Inpatient DRG Coding.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding, as needed.
• Adhere to ethical standards of coding per AAPC/AHIMA.
• Maintain required performance levels in coding quality and productivity.
• Query physicians when appropriate.
• Keep up-to-date coding knowledge via QM Manager/Director guidance.
• Participate in coding department meetings and educational events.
• Handle additional responsibilities as identified by manager.
