Job summary

ABB is seeking a Senior Technical Business Developer for its sub-transmission portfolio, focusing on 72.5-145 kV Dead Tank Circuit Breakers. This remote US role reports to the Product Marketing Director and collaborates with Global Portfolio Management of Grid Components.

The candidate will lead market strategy, technical presales, and industry standards influence, while driving partnerships and product evolution for SF6-free digital solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in high voltage equipment.
• Deep understanding of US sub-transmission applications and utility processes.
• Experience in technical sales, product management, or business development.
• Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI standards for high-voltage products.
• Experience with SF6-free solutions/regulation.
• Ability to travel up to 30% (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

• Market strategy & growth – Drive U.S. subtransmission market expansion by developing new utility/EPC/OEM opportunities, shaping go-to-market plans, and securing product homologation.
• Technical leadership – Act as the primary technical interface, leading configuration discussions, advanced feature evaluations, and presales solution design.
• Standards & industry influence – Ensure IEEE/ANSI compliance, represent the company in industry bodies, and help shape evolving technical specifications.
• Partnerships & product innovation – Build strategic ecosystem relationships while channeling customer insights to guide product evolution, digital integration, and SF6-free technology adoption.
