Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer for national, remote work. You will serve as the technical authority for fire and life safety across utility-scale energy storage, power, and industrial EPC projects, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and client specs through design to commissioning.

You will lead cross-functional teams, interface with AHJs and insurers, develop basis-of-design docs, manage EORs, and drive cost-effective, safe project execution across multiple

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.
• P.E. license in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.
• Extensive experience with AHJs, code officials, and permitting for complex fire protection systems.
• Strong understanding of NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL855 and industry best practices.
• Ability to manage external consultants and multi-project deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on complex fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Establish company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead national fire protection code activities and interface with AHJs, insurers, and engineers.
• Oversee Fire Protection EORs, budgets, and design deliverables across projects.
• Collaborate with electrical/SCADA teams to ensure design consistency and efficiency.
• Support fire protection design optimization for cost, performance, and constructability.
• Provide technical support during testing and commissioning.
