Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to serve as the technical authority for fire and life safety across utility-scale energy storage, power, and industrial EPC projects. The role ensures compliance with codes, standards, and client specs from concept through commissioning, while supporting safe and cost-effective project delivery.

Qualifications

10+ years of fire protection engineering experience with energy infrastructure exposure.
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline.
P.E. license in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.
Experience working with AHJs, fire marshals, and code officials for approvals.
Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, UL 9540/9540A, UL855 and related codes.
Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

Provide SME guidance on complex fire safety challenges.
Develop standards, design criteria, and best practices.
Lead national fire protection code committees and coordinate with third-party EORs.
Interface with AHJs, insurers, and engineers; travel to meetings.
Oversee project fire protection design for BESS and power facilities.
Support testing and commissioning of fire protection systems.
