Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire and life safety across energy storage, power, and industrial EPC projects. This fully remote role ensures codes, standards, and client specifications are met from conceptual design through commissioning.

This position requires expert knowledge of NFPA and IBC codes, interaction with AHJs and insurers, and cross-functional collaboration across disciplines. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• 10+ years of fire protection engineering experience.
• P.E. license in Fire Protection Engineering preferred.
• Experience with AHJs, code officials, and permitting processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert-level guidance on complex fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Establish company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead national fire protection code committees and liaise with AHJs, insurers, and engineers.
• Develop project-specific basis-of-design documents for fire protection systems.
• Manage 3rd party fire protection EORs, including schedules and budgets.
• Collaborate with electrical and SCADA disciplines for design consistency.
• Support fire protection design optimization for cost, performance, constructability.
• Provide technical support during fire system testing and commissioning.
