Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Engineer in the Transmission Line Engineering Department to plan, direct, and coordinate civil/structural analyses and deliverables for high voltage transmission lines. The role will involve developing drawings, specs, and budgets, leading design reviews, and providing technical direction while traveling up to 15% and working across multiple US locations, including Raleigh, NC.

Ideal candidates have 5–10+ years of overhead line design, a PE license, and hands-on

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of overhead transmission line design experience.
• ABET-accredited degree in a relevant engineering field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Ability to travel up to 15%
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, and coordinate civil/structural analyses for transmission lines.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Lead design reviews and provide technical direction to team members.
• Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and project deliverables.
• Coordinate with field crews and project management for timely submittals.
