Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Electrical Substation Design Engineer for its Power team. This full-time role can be performed remotely from anywhere in the United States.

The candidate should have extensive experience in electrical distribution systems, HV/MV design, and 3D design software, with PE licensure in the US. The position emphasizes coordination with clients, development of technical specs, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• University degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Over 10 years of electrical engineering experience.
• Experience in electrical distribution systems and industrial controls for a broad range of industries.
• Knowledge in medium/high voltage design: load flow, short circuit, grounding.
• Experience preparing layouts, elevation views, grounding, lighting, cable trays and conduit layouts.
• Exceptional communication skills (client relations, team communications, proposals/reports).
• Experience preparing technical specifications and reviewing vendor drawings.
• Knowledge of renewable energy facilities such as solar and wind.
• HVDC project experience.
• Experience with 3D design software.
• Professional Engineer license in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assigns and outlines work, advises on technical problems, and reviews work for technical accuracy.
• Reviews and prepares technical documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with technical requirements.
• Prepares proposal writeups and estimates based on client RFPs.
• Develops, approves, and coordinates work schedules to meet cost, quality, and time objectives.
• Maintains effective relationships with colleagues and clients to discuss design issues and features.
• Establishes and maintains client contacts for project information.
• Analyzes problems, investigates, and determines design criteria.
• Commits to project completion dates, resources, and staffing requirements.
• Coordinates with related engineering disciplines.
