Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Senior Electrical Substation Design Engineer to join our Power team. This role can be performed from anywhere in the United States.

You will apply your experience in electrical distribution systems, HV substations, and 3D design tools to develop layouts, perform load flow, short circuit and grounding studies, and coordinate with clients and project teams. The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience, a US PE license, and experience with 3D design software, HVDC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Over 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in electrical distribution systems and industrial controls for diverse industries with emphasis on utility substations.
• Knowledge of medium/high voltage power distribution, load flow, short circuit and grounding studies, transformer sizing and cable sizing.
• Experience preparing layouts, elevation views, installation details, grounding, lighting, cable trays, conduit layouts.
• Exceptional communication skills for client relations, teamwork, and proposal/report development.
• Experience preparing technical specifications and evaluating vendor drawings; knowledge of renewables and HVDC projects; 3D design software proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assigns and outlines work, provides technical guidance, and reviews work for accuracy.
• Reviews and prepares technical documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Prepares proposal writeups and estimates based on client RFPs.
• Develops and coordinates work schedules to meet cost, quality, and time objectives.
• Maintains client contacts to obtain or provide technical information related to the project.
• Analyzes problems, organizes investigations, and defines design criteria.
• Makes commitments on project acceptance, dates, resources, and staff.
• Has knowledge of related engineering disciplines.
