Job summary

SSOE is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for commercial projects, from concept through construction. The role emphasizes power distribution, lighting, grounding, and coordination with healthcare, educational, and commercial facilities.

Remote work is eligible for Michigan-resident candidates with periodic on-site collaboration in the Troy office. The ideal candidate will bring extensive NEC knowledge, Arc-Flash and coordination experience, and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program suitable for licensure.
PE license preferred.
LC Certification is a plus.
11+ years of full-time related experience at a professional services firm.
Good working knowledge of NEC.
Arc-Flash and breaker coordination analysis experience.
Knowledge of energy codes IECC & ASHRAE 90.1.
Working knowledge of Revit and electrical design tools.
Demonstrated ability to work on mid to large-sized projects from start to finish.
Excellent collaboration and communication across locations.

Responsibilities

Lead the electrical engineering of multiple projects from concept through construction phases.
Investigate existing electrical systems to determine scope of work.
Assign design tasks to junior staff and design support.
Design power distribution, lighting, grounding, and related systems.
Utilize 3D modeling and Revit capabilities for designs.
Provide project design, construction, scheduling, and cost inputs.
Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and attend on-site meetings.
Assist in developing design standards and specifications.
