Job summary

SSOE Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead building design projects, focusing on power distribution, lighting, grounding, and related systems for healthcare, educational, and commercial facilities. The role supports remote work with proximity requirements to Michigan and Troy, MI, enabling periodic in-person collaboration.

Responsibilities include design leadership, coordination, RFI responses, and site reviews, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited institution.
• PE license preferred; LC certification a plus.
• Minimum of 11 years of professional services experience.
• Good working knowledge of NEC.
• Experience with arc-flash, arc-fault studies and coordination.
• Knowledge of IECC & ASHRAE 90.1 energy codes.
• Proficiency in Revit and electrical design tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead mid-to-large projects from start to finish.
• Strong collaboration and cross-location communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical engineering of multiple projects from concept through construction.
• Assess existing electrical systems to define scope of work.
• Delegate design tasks to junior engineers and designers.
• Design power distribution, lighting, grounding, and related calculations.
• Apply 3D modeling in Revit for coordinated designs.
• Provide project design, scheduling, and cost input.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, attend construction site meetings.
• Help develop design standards and specifications for the business unit.
