Job summary

Public Library of Science (PLOS) is seeking a Senior Editor, Publication Ethics to investigate and resolve ethics issues across PLOS journals. The role involves supporting journal teams, contributing to ethics initiatives, and guiding editors through manuscript handling and peer review processes.

The position is fully remote with international candidate eligibility, and a 12-month fixed-term contract. The team works on a broad range of integrity issues, from image/data integrity to authorship

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in a scientific discipline.
• Experience in editorial or publication ethics role in STM publishing.
• Experience resolving publication ethics cases.
• Knowledge of COPE standards and guidance.
• Post-graduate research experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve publication ethics cases for all PLOS journals.
• Provide publication ethics support to journal teams.
• Contribute to team initiatives on ethics and integrity issues.
• Support editors during manuscript handling and peer review.
• Communicate ethics issues with involved stakeholders clearly.
• Assist in recruitment and onboarding for vacancies.
• Train staff on ethics case management and standards.
• Uphold high standards of professionalism in communications
