Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Senior Customer Solutions Engineer to deliver end-to-end wavelength and Ethernet solutions from order to fulfillment. You will collaborate across engineering, planning, and operations to resolve capacity needs on wavelength transport networks, driving customer-demanded solutions in a remote US role.

You will analyze complex transport systems, design plans, and mentor junior staff while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with Ciena 6500 DWDM system.
• Experience designing DWDM system plans.
• SQL experience.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs detailed and complex solutioning for Wavelength and Ethernet customer orders.
• Triggers projects utilizing the most feasible, practical and economical means.
• Performs engineering work and applied research, development and design of new projects, to include design, fabrication, modification and evaluation of equipment and devices.
• Skilled in planning and/or engineering.
• Analyzes complex Wavelength and Ethernet transport network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges and other devices.
• Must be capable of handling moderately complex engineering assignments.
• Resolves difficult interoperability problems to obtain operation across all platforms including e-mail, files transfer, multimedia, teleconferencing and the like.
• Configures systems to user environments.
• Supports acquisition and implementation of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services.
• May act as a mentor or provide work leadership for lower level employees.
• Requires limited direction and guidance.
