Job summary
Hamilton Barnes is seeking a hands-on Resident Engineer to support Fortune 10 hyperscale optical deployments, combining network design validation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer engagements.
Based in Richardson, TX, you will work with customer engineering and internal teams on international deployments, perform fiber characterization, and deliver training and transfer of know-how.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience with DWDM optical transport systems.
- Experience across longhaul and metro optical architectures.
- Strong fiber optic characterization testing and analysis experience.
- Ability to interpret OTDR, OLTS, CD, and PMD results.
- Experience with network commissioning, troubleshooting, and migrations.
- Hands-on Ciena 6500 RLS and Waveserver experience.
- Strong customer engagement and troubleshooting skills.
Responsibilities
- Support international optical network deployment, integration, and migration activities
- Conduct factory staging, field deployment, site surveys, and fiber characterization
- Validate network designs and perform technical analysis
- Lead advanced troubleshooting and technical problem resolution
- Act as the primary technical interface with customers and third-party vendors
- Support network configuration, documentation, and MOP development
- Deliver internal and external technical training

This is a hands-on Resident Engineer position combining optical network deployment, design validation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and customer engagement.
