Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC International is seeking an experienced E&S Construction Underwriter to develop and manage a profitable middle-market construction book of business. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of E&S construction underwriting experience and can operate with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include evaluating new and renewal applications, pricing, and maintaining comprehensive documentation. Occasional travel is expected; compensation includes a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years underwriting E&S (Excess & Surplus/non-admitted) construction business.
• Experience underwriting middle-market construction accounts rather than small business.
• Ability to work independently and build a territory with minimal supervision.
• Must have E&S construction underwriting experience.
• Should understand and manage larger, more complex accounts.
• Evaluate new and renewal policy applications to classify and assess risk, determine acceptability, assign rating, endorsements and limits, and determine pricing.
• Contact brokers within designated timeframe to provide information and serve as underwriting resource.
• Create and maintain documentation including new and renewal bound files and underwriting worksheets.
• Adhere to underwriting authority directives and company policies.
• Pursue designations such as RPLU/CPCU/AU/CIC where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate applications, determine pricing, endorsements and limits; maintain files and documentation.
• Serve as a resource to brokers and internal staff on underwriting procedures and guidelines.
• Follow plans, timelines, and policies; ensure compliance with corporate standards.
