Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Litigation Claims Consultant to manage a portfolio of high-exposure CGL claims across multiple jurisdictions. You will lead strategy, coordinate with top-tier defense counsel, and drive outcomes that balance financial results with customer experience.

You will mentor colleagues, analyze coverage and indemnity issues, and ensure robust, well-documented claim files while advancing our complex casualty claims capabilities.

Qualifications

• 5-10+ years of casualty claims experience with an insurer, including complex, high-severity and litigated CGL claims.
• Experience handling claims with significant exposure ($250K-$1M+).
• Ability to lead litigation strategy and negotiate high-value settlements.
• Strong knowledge of coverage interpretation and multi-jurisdictional frameworks.
• Excellent reserving, expense management, and indemnity control skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions with high authority on complex claims.
• Analytical reasoning and planning/execution skills to deliver prioritized solutions.
• Customer-centric approach with persuasion and influence to align stakeholders.
• Digital fluency and professional insurance acumen for complex challenges.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; industry designations or JD are a plus; active adjuster license or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a portfolio of complex, high-exposure CGL claims across multiple jurisdictions.
• Conduct thorough investigations and timely coverage analysis to inform strategy.
• Interpret indemnity and hold-harmless agreements; assess additional insured coverage.
• Evaluate liability and damages; maintain appropriate reserves throughout lifecycle.
• Lead and execute litigation strategy with defense counsel through all phases.
• Negotiate high-severity settlements; pursue cost-effective outcomes.
• Identify risk transfer and subrogation opportunities to mitigate loss.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to support resolution and trends analysis.
• Maintain compliant, well-documented claim files and clear stakeholder communications.
• Mentor and develop capabilities of the broader claims organization.
