Job summary

Affirm is hiring a Software Engineer to design a next-generation reliability platform for production systems. You’ll blend distributed systems engineering with AI-assisted development to give teams a single place to understand, debug, and improve the health of their services.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale (Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes).
• Experience shipping web apps with React or Vue.
• Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks for automation with guardrails and citations.
• Ability to define a technical plan for delivering major features with an elegant design.
• Proven ability to make significant changes in large code bases and develop supportive tooling.
• Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and seeking feedback.
• Strong verbal and written communication for global teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals, guiding engineers through ambiguity to solve open-ended problems.
• Collaborate with product management, design and analytics during ideation and decision-making.
• Proactively identify and lead solutions to project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Support operations and availability by monitoring metrics and on-call efforts.
• Set and uphold code quality and design standards across the team.
• Develop talent by providing feedback and mentoring.
