Job summary

GAF is seeking a Corporate Automation and Controls Engineer IV to lead control systems across manufacturing plants, providing technical direction and mentoring plant controls personnel. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, project leadership, and setting technical standards for advanced automation in a continuous process environment.

Travel up to 60% is required; candidates should hold a Bachelor's in Engineering and have 5+ years of controls experience, with deep Rockwell/PLC expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of controls engineering experience in a continuous manufacturing environment is required.
• Proficiency with Rockwell Automation software - Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, FTView, CCW, and FTAC.
• Proficiency selecting, configuring, and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PowerFlex variable frequency drives.
• HMI development experience - FTView and/or Wonderware.
• Experience maintaining production networks, including servers and managed switches.
• Demonstrated ability to lead controls projects from scope to startup.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary internal engineering resource concerning control systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant performance and share best practices.
• Lead and facilitate strategic projects across multiple plants and new plants/processes.
• Provide plant support and training; enable regional engineers through coaching and remote/onsite assistance.
• Coordinate with controls group to maintain standards and communicate progress.
