Job summary

GAF is seeking a Corporate Automation and Controls Engineer IV to provide expert direction on control systems, data acquisition, and plant network management. The role may cover multiple plants, providing coaching to plant controls personnel and leading high-impact projects.

The role emphasizes deep engineering mastery, cross-functional leadership, and advancing technical standards while traveling up to 60% for project work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required.
• 5+ years of Controls Engineering in a continuous manufacturing environment required.
• 10+ years of Controls Engineering in a continuous manufacturing environment preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., without visa sponsorship.
• Proficiency with Rockwell Automation software: Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, FTView, CCW, FTAC.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley PowerFlex variable frequency drives.
• HMI development experience with FTView/Wonderware.
• Experience maintaining production networks (servers, switches).
• Expertise in electrical components, PLCs, instrumentation, and VFDs.
• Process control experience in continuous process environments.
• Experience with servo drives and safety PLCs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary internal engineering resource for control systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve plant performance and share best practices.
• Lead strategic projects across multiple plants and new plants/processes.
• Provide plant support and training for control systems.
• Coordinate with controls group to share standards and technology.
