Job summary

Selective Insurance is seeking an Agency Management Specialist to act as a liaison between the company and agents, and to manage relationships with regional underwriting, agents, and corporate departments. You will train AMS staff, assess agents' strengths, and ensure adherence to policies and regulatory requirements.

You will develop productive agent relationships, monitor results for profitable growth, and promote use of Selective systems.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred; 6+ years underwriting, marketing or field underwriting experience.
• 4 years Agency Management, rating.
• 3 years Claims, loss control-inspection.
• Demonstrated superior communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
• Must be able to work independently, from a remote location and travel regularly.

Responsibilities

• Develop a profitable agency force familiar with Selective’s initiatives, products, policies and services.
• Make underwriting decisions, adhere to pricing philosophies, and promote ease of doing business.
• Monitor agency results and follow up on growth, profitability, share of wallet and compliance.
• Develop professional working relationships with agents, regional underwriting, claim teams and corporate departments; conduct training.
• Maintain two-way communication between agent and company; encourage use of CLAS, PLUS and eSelect.
• Perform inspections per Loss Control Guide and document risk improvements.
• Stay alert to industry changes and advise on implications for Selective.
• Audit agents’ book of business and provide quality assurance feedback.
• Meet CMS, Loss Control Rep, Bond Rep, Personal Lines Rep regularly to discuss opportunities.
• Must be able to drive and travel within territory (40-50% of time).
