Job summary

SOLV Energy, a leader in solar, storage, and high-voltage projects, seeks an experienced commissioning specialist to support the pre-commissioning and commissioning of network and communications systems. This role is fully remote with regular travel to various job sites within the United States.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in commissioning utility-scale solar projects.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, and electrical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of networking and communications systems.
• Proactive problem solving and issue resolution.
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings/schematics.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement site commissioning plans and adhere to schedules.
• Coordinate with project teams (engineering, construction, QA, SCADA) for alignment on commissioning activities.
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests (performance, functional, reliability).
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues during commissioning to ensure optimal SCADA/site communications performance.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports with test results and corrective actions.
• Improve commissioning processes by incorporating feedback and lessons learned.
• Assist site commissioning personnel with Safety Tagging and Lockout/Work Permit programs.
• Utility-scale solar plant testing for EPC/Utilities in the US.
• Fiber, Ethernet, and Serial communications testing.
• SCADA system understanding, testing and commissioning.
• NFPA/NEC, IEEE/IES/API standards familiarity.
• NETA and IEEE standards related to transformers, MV/LV cabling, grounding.
• Understanding commercial performance of power plants.
• Familiarity with NERC guidelines and ISO/TSO requirements.
• Familiarity with DCS/SCADA control systems for utility-scale generation.
• Experience with testing of relaying systems.
• Attention to detail, communication, customer focus, prioritization, and drive.
• Leading by example in safety and quality.
• Adherence to standard operating procedures.
• Using PPE properly.
