Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a commissioning specialist to support the network and communications pre-commissioning and commissioning for utility-scale solar, battery storage and substations across the United States. This fully remote role involves frequent travel to job sites, with location details discussed in interviews.

The successful candidate will conduct tests, ensure safety and compliance, and produce reports. Strong knowledge of SCADA, networking, NFPA/NEC and IEEE/API standards is required.

Qualifications

• This role requires 3–5 years of commissioning utility-scale solar projects.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers and electrical infra.
• Experience with networking and communications systems is essential.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement site-specific commissioning plans and schedules.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction and QA to align commissioning activities.
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests (performance, functional, reliability) for communications systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot issues during commissioning to optimize SCADA and site communications.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports with results, issues and corrective actions.
• Improve commissioning processes using feedback from projects.
• Assist site personnel with Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit compliance.
• Test utility-scale solar plants for EPC/Utilities in the United States.
• Perform fiber, Ethernet and serial communications testing (Modbus, DNP).
• Understand SCADA systems and related testing and commissioning.
• Familiarity with NFPA/NEC, IEEE/IES/API standards; NETA and transformer testing contexts.
• Support safety, quality and technical efforts; promote safe practices.
