Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a seasoned commissioning professional to support the network and communications pre-commissioning and commissioning for utility-scale solar projects across the United States. The role is fully remote with regular travel to various job sites, and interview discussions will clarify location expectations.

Responsibilities include executing commissioning tests, coordinating with engineering and QA, documenting results, and ensuring compliance with NFPA/NEC and IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in commissioning utility-scale solar power projects.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, and electrical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of networking and communications systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Ability to interpret Electrical and Mechanical Drawings/ Schematics.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement site-specific commissioning plans and adhere to schedules.
• Coordinate with project teams, including engineering, construction, and quality assurance, SCADA to ensure alignment on commissioning activities.
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests, including performance testing, functional testing, and reliability testing of all communications systems.
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the commissioning process to ensure optimal performance of SCADA and site communications systems.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports, documenting test results, issues encountered, and corrective actions taken.
• Continuously improve commissioning processes by incorporating feedback and lessons learned from completed projects.
• Assists site commissioning personnel in establishment of the Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit Program and ensuring compliance with its provisions.
• Utility scale solar power plants testing for EPC or Utilities in the United States
• Fiber installation and testing
• Ethernet installation and testing
• Serial communications installation and testing (Modbus, DNP, etc)
• SCADA system understanding, testing, and commissioning
• Knowledgeable in NFPA/NEC standards, and IEEE/IES/API Standards.
• Familiarity with NERC guidelines and ISO/TSO requirements a plus.
