Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies seeks an experienced Robotics Software Engineer to design, build, and integrate software powering autonomous robots across the full stack, from sensor integration to behavior systems.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of robotics software experience, strong C++ and Python skills, and hands-on ROS/ROS 2 in production. This is a 100% remote U.S. role with a competitive salary and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of robotics software engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
• Hands-on experience with ROS or ROS 2 in production projects.
• Solid experience with perception, localization, motion planning, or control.
• Familiarity with sensor fusion techniques.
• Experience with simulation environments (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo).
• Strong debugging skills in real-time and concurrent systems.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience supporting field tests and hardware integration.

Responsibilities

• Develop robotics software in C++ and Python with real-time performance in mind.
• Design and integrate sensor data pipelines (cameras, LiDAR, IMUs).
• Implement perception, localization, and mapping algorithms including SLAM.
• Develop motion planning, control, and trajectory generation.
• Build behavioral systems using state machines or behavior trees.
• Integrate ROS/ROS 2 frameworks with hardware and embedded systems.
• Implement safety-critical patterns including watchdogs and fault detection.
• Build simulation environments (Gazebo, Isaac Sim) for testing.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and ML engineers.
• Design and execute field tests and data collection.
• Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
