Job summary

Humana Inc. seeks a Research Scientist 2 to apply statistical and epidemiologic methods to large health datasets, identifying trends and opportunities to improve Medicare Advantage outcomes while controlling costs.

You will work with clinicians and strategy partners to design studies, build analytic variables in SQL/SAS/Python, and translate results into actionable insights for business partners.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a quantitative field (epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, statistics, clinical informatics, engineering, or related).
• 2+ years experience creating datasets and analytic variables from large data using SQL, SAS and Python.
• Experience applying research methods to transform large data into actionable insights.
• Experience with experimental/quasi-experimental methods (RCTs, propensity matching, diff-in-diff).
• Strong healthcare interest and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Do exploratory analyses on populations, trends, and clinical conditions to identify opportunities for improvement and savings.
• Collaborate with clinicians to define clinical concepts and extract information from medical, pharmacy, and lab claims.
• Apply descriptive and epidemiological methods to analytics projects.
• Design outcomes studies and evaluate programs using RCTs or quasi-experimental approaches.
• Translate results into actionable insights and present to business partners.
