Job summary

VGW seeks a Regional Lead for Government & Industry Affairs to drive state-level gov't relations, manage external lobbyists, and build relationships with state officials across multiple jurisdictions.

Reporting to the VP of Government Relations, the role translates VGW’s lobbying strategy into targeted state campaigns with autonomy within a defined framework. This position is open to candidates anywhere in the US and can be performed remotely.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in state government, state-level lobbying, legislative affairs, or political campaigns.
• Experience managing external vendors or contract lobbyists against defined deliverables.
• Working knowledge of gaming regulation, sweepstakes law, consumer protection, or related policy areas.
• Strong political credibility and relationships with government officials in the region.
• Experience in multi-state lobbying in fast-moving industries like technology or gaming.
• Proficient with legislative tracking tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary accountability manager for all external lobbyists within the assigned regional portfolio: set performance expectations, respond to queries, review deliverables, conduct weekly check-ins, and provide written assessments.
• Translate VGW’s policy positions and lobbying strategy into state-specific advocacy messaging tailored to local dynamics.
• Develop and maintain relationships with state legislators, committee staff, and regulators.
• Participate in cross-regional strategy sessions to ensure messaging consistency across states.
• Represent the company at hearings, fundraisers, conferences, and stakeholder engagements within the portfolio.
• Monitor and track active legislation across assigned states affecting social gaming and consumer protection.
